I am at least glad that famous, best-selling author, John Grisham, apologized on his website “for controversial comments he made about the U.S. justice system and ‘harsh’ prison sentences for those who viewed child pornography online.”

In an earlier statement made to the UK Telegraph, Grisham said, “We have prisons now filled with guys my age. Sixty-year-old white men in prison who’ve never harmed anybody, would never touch a child.” He continued, “But they got online one night and started surfing around, probably had too much to drink or whatever, and pushed the wrong buttons, went too far and got into child porn.”

I disagree vehemently with the comment this behavior “never harmed anybody.” Firstly, it supports a sick and evil industry that exploits children. Secondly, I believe those who participate are harming themselves whether they realize it or not.

I have been an advocate for children my entire adult life. The kind of thinking, expressed by John Grisham, is why children need us as their advocates. We need to protect our children! Jesus had a definite opinion about this when He states in Mark 9:42, “And if anyone causes one of these little ones to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied about his neck.” Child pornography brings sin into the lives of children and to those who condone it!
