A friend recently shared a post on Facebook that said, “I think as you grow older your Christmas list gets shorter, because the things you want can’t be bought.” How true!
Many of us want the things God wanted for us when He first created the world — perfect love for one another and for Him, peace everywhere, health, a beautiful and pristine environment, and time and freedom to praise and worship our Creator.
But sin entered the world, allowing only glimpses of God’s perfect world until He returns to make new what sin has destroyed. In the meantime, He asks each one of us to show His love and light wherever we can. Others need to see the glimpses of the HOPE to come.
None of this would be possible if Jesus hadn’t come to this earth the first time, bringing redemption from sin and showing us how to live the best we can in this imperfect world of ours.
I love children and seeing things through their eyes. My 8 ½ month old grandson smiles and finds joy in the simplest of things. My prayer for you this Christmas is that you will be able to look for and find joy in the simple things. And that you will find joy in your Savior, who loves you so much and who finds incredible joy in you!
